The Gite is located in the ‘Parc naturel régional Périgord Limousin’ in the Haute-Vienne, a department of the Limousin, 2 km from the border with the Dordogne.

The nearest small town Chalus (5 km) has all the necessary amenities, such as several large supermarkets, restaurants and pizzerias, a post office, a bank, several money machines, general practitioner (for EU Nationals: take your EHIC card with you within Europe. For UK Nationals: take your Global Health insurance Card. This prevents you from having to advance doctor’s fees) and pharmacy, garage and newsagents. 
You can do a lot in the area, also with children. About 1 km from the gite there is a landscaped sport and recreation area with a large lake for swimming and pedal boating. In addition, you can play mini golf, and there is the Velo-Rail (pedal bikes on an old train track with a length of 6 km). There is also a climbing park, where you move through the trees via ropes, ladders, bridges and ziplines. There are different circuits depending on the age. It is called Espace Hermeline.

In the immediate vicinity there is plenty of opportunity for horse riding, golf (no Handicap required), mountain biking, canoeing and Stand Up Paddle (for example in Brantôme), Escalade, Via Ferrata and karting.

The gite is located near the Castle route of Richard the Lionheart, more information at | Haute-Vienne Tourisme about: Chalus, Nexon, Cussac-Bonaval and at about 30 minutes Saint Leonard de Noblat and Segur le Chateau. Other beautiful places in the area that are definitely worth a visit are for example the porcelain and university city of Limoges (37km), the large Wednesday morning market in Piegut, the romantic Perigueux (60 km), the cozy Brantome (40km) where you can canoe and the chic Bordeaux (200km). You can take the train from Bussiere-Galant to Bordeaux.
